We needed to solidify a way to keep students in learning mode without sacrificing all play time. Teachers reported higher engagement and flexibility after students were able to have even this short amount of freedom.
We lacked a handbook for our curriculum. It was time to make sure each teacher knew how to use our curriculum platform.
I decided to have my teachers meet by grade level twice a month. This was to give them time to implement new techniques and observe how well they did or didn't take in their classes with their students or themselves. We would spend a class period or less to discuss our students' English levels, classroom management practices and more.
As this school relies on the foreign teachers to teach, the local teachers were invited to participate, but did not. It was up to the foreign teachers to relay any new information to their co-teacher after the meeting.

We needed a system to better understand the incoming students that trickled in throughout the year. I made some suggestions on the interview style to try and help students be assigned to a suitable class. Most academies have students complete a paper test and then sift them into the mix. Our school attempted to create a way to stand out by only accepting those that could use English as a communication tool, rather than something to merely test. It was also important to see if any other factors; personality, motor skills, would hold them back.
In true old school fashion, scores are being entered into a spreadsheet that is accessible by management. When it comes time to evaluate whether a student should stay in a certain class or not, we can now look back and check their scores. Previously we didn't have any system for keeping track of student improvement or regress.
Each time we had a PLC meeting, notes would be taken to help everyone recall past events and note progress. It was in a shared doc for the teachers of a specific grade level.
